Johanna has been singing for as long as she can remember. Thankfully, her parents encouraged this love of music by putting her in a choir, enrolling her in musical theatre camps and by providing her with classical piano and voice lessons.
As an adult, Johanna’s love of music and creative expression has continued to flourish as she now plays guitar, ukulele, harmonium, makes music as often as she can with friends, and sings in open mics and small concerts around town with a local band.
Besides music, Johanna’s other passion in life has been working with kids and supporting their natural inclination towards curiosity and creativity. With a Bachelor in Elementary Education from UBC, Johanna has turned her focus towards young children, with experience developing programming for preschoolers, performing stories for children, working at 4Cats Arts Studio and teaching yoga to toddlers and preschoolers.
After hearing about Music Together from three different people in her life, Johanna decided to investigate further. All it took was watching one of Katherine’s classes and learning a bit more about the program to convince Johanna that this program was something she wanted to be a part of! Music Together’s philosophy on music learning completely supports her own experience and observations of how children learn, and she loves the freedom and playfulness the program provides. Johanna completed her Music Together training in April 2016, and is thrilled to be making music with families at Westside Music Together!
